Mid Island Hiking Trails

A network of trails in the Retreat Cove area offers access to the shores of Laughlin Lake, the home of ducks, frogs and beavers, to quiet forested woodlands, and to some of the island’s favorite warm east-side beaches.

Many of the trails go through private properties and are accessible to the public thanks to the kindness of the owners. Please stay on marked trails and respect their privacy.

Access to Bodega Ridge Provincial Park is from the top of Cottage Way, where there is ample parking. Please to do not block driveways. The trail to the ridge opens up spectacular views over Trincomali Channel and nearby islands.

Walking along the old east-side road, there is a view of the Great Beaver Swamp and beyond the Pebble Beach trail, access to the Vanilla Leaf Trail leading back to the Galiano Conservancy’s Millard Learning Centre on Porlier Pass Rd.
